Fingals is situated just one mile away from the beautiful waterside village of Dittisham and on the walking trail from Totnes to Dartmouth (the South Devon Trail). Apart from walking to either of these lovely towns people can easily walk across country on green lanes and paths to both of the local villages of Cornworthy and Dittisham. At Dittisham there are 2 pubs and a seafood restaurant (see Eating Out) and in Cornworthy there is also a very good local pub called the Hunter's Lodge. There is a passenger ferry https://www.greenwayferry.co.uk/ from the quay in Dittisham across the River Dart to Greenway and the Agatha Christie estate (see Houses & Gardens) and The Original Dittisham Ferry which goes down the river to Dartmouth - this ferry runs every half hour https://dittisham-ferries.myshopify.com/.
The real jewel of the South Hams are the coastal walks which are best started after a short drive. Some credit them as being some of the best in the world. They take you past some beautiful sandy coves and beaches which are invariably almost deserted (see Walks).
